Reading- Daily Five/ Reading Groups, compare texts, read informational text and identify support. No Leveled Readers this week. I will be assessing your child's DRA level.

Language Arts- punctuation, capitalization, sentence features, introduce conjunctions

Math- data collection and graphing

Writing- Review personal narratives and fictional narratives, using editing checklist and author's chair

Social Studies- producers & consumers, goods & services

Important Reminders

 Johnny Appleseed

Thank you so much for those of you who have sent in the money and permission slip for our 1^st Grade Field Trip to see Johnny Appleseed. Please send in the permission slip and $14.00 to cover your child’s ticket and transportation by next Friday, October 4^th. We are so excited that we will be studying Johnny Appleseed this fall. The kids will love it!

Have you noticed that your child does not bring a lot of work home? We spend a lot of class time reading, responding to text, and discussing mathematical thinking. The students don't complete a lot of paper/pencil assignments, so when your child is absent from school they miss a lot of instruction that can not be made up. Please try to have your child come to school on time every day so that they do not miss important instruction. (However, we would appreciate it if you would keep them at home if they are sick! They should be fever free for 24 hours prior to returning back to school.
